Noah Cyrus has a new single Spiritual Awakening ‘I Got So High That I Saw Jesus’

Noah Cyrus has returned with the country-tinged new single “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus.” The song is part of a larger body of work that will be released later this year, Cyrus told her fans today.

Over an acoustic guitar, Cyrus sings about a drug-induced encounter with Jesus, who reminds her that everything that will be OK. “You just need me in your heart/Tennessee whiskey and love,” Noah sings. In the video, she gives herself a river baptism, rides a white horse and cavorts with a butterfly.

“For many different people religion or spirituality can mean many different things,” Cyrus wrote in a statement. “It’s not about one religion or belief system or about the album. Jesus essentially means a greater awareness and wisdom, that all is aimed at and everything will work out as it should. It is all right as long as our love and culture lead us. Right now, both are more important than ever. I’ve been born and raised a true Christian with firm convictions.

“One night I was smoking a weed and wrote this song, hence the title, had this epyphany. I hope this song resonates with people, especially with the world at the moment. Human beings have evolved in so many ways, but also with each other and the earth. So many easy things have been lost from our sight. Like PJ [Peter Harding], with whom I wrote the album, it’s about long term fear. What I like about the song is the various interpretations it has and how it impacts everyone else.

Cyrus started a mini-tour earlier this year to play in London, New York City and Los Angeles, where he played. For the “This Is Us” track which was released in February, she teamed up with Jimmie Allen. Cyrus revealed that fans should expect her to have an extended project for the 2018 EP Good Cry. Cyrus revealed it’s going to include the “I Got So High that I Saw Jesus” project.
